A donation to Windsor Regional Hospital will make the setting for medical staff to sit down with loved ones to explain the potentially life-altering or terminal prognosis, a care plan and updates for a patient requiring critical care a little more comfortable.
On Tuesday, Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation accepted a $10,000 donation from the Do Good Divas to sponsor the ICU Family Conference room at the Ouellette Campus.
This room will provide an opportunity for the healthcare team to meet privately with families to provide information on care being provided to their loved one in the Intensive Care Unit.

WINDSOR, ONT Windsor Regional Hospital officials say new rapid testing is now allowing the hospital to assess much more quickly whether in-patients have COVID-19. Implementation of the GeneXpert instrument by laboratory staff and the vendor, InterMedico, is complete and Medical Laboratory Technologists have been trained in the use of the instrument, which was also validated by testing known samples to verify performance and accuracy. WRH can now test up to 200 individuals per week, which is the maximum amount of weekly tests available for use due to an international supply shortage. “Due to the limited supplies, rapid testing will focus on in-patients in hospital who need to be tested to confirm whether they have recovered from the virus, or acquired it,” said a statement from WRH.
