NEW WINDSOR - A tenant at the Squire Village Apartments suffered smoke inhalation and burns when a fire broke out in his unit early Friday afternoon.
The unidentified man was flown to either Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla or Albany Medical Center.
New Windsor Fire Chief Mike Saylor said most other tenants in the building got out by themselves, but firefighters assisted one elderly female on the second floor. Nobody else got hurt, he said.
Saylor said there was heavy smoke and fire when the first firefightrers arrived on the scene. The fire was under control within an hour.
