Ten Taiwanese companies that are planning to become offshore wind sub-suppliers have been awarded funds to upgrade their offshore wind technologies by Ørsted and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), which is managing Ørsted’s Offshore Wind Industrial Development Fund (IDF) in Taiwan.
The companies will now kick off their research and development for the next 12 to 18 months. Two of the selected companies for technologies localization are from Changhua, where Ørsted is building a large-scale offshore wind project.
The Offshore Wind Industrial Development Fund is also sponsoring 92 local talents to receive high-level welding training as well as 80 other individuals to receive Global Wind Organization (GWO) safety training.
