THERE were two fresh Covid-19 cases recorded in each of the four Somerset districts in the latest 24-hour figures. The running totals of confirmed cases in each district since the start of the pandemic are South Somerset 5,427; Somerset West and Taunton 5,939; Sedgemoor 5,333; Mendip 3,436. The infection rates based on the latest rolling seven-day figures have fallen below 20 cases per 100,000 people in all four districts. The rates are South Somerset 12.5 (down from 17.2 the previous day); SWT 9.7 (no change); Sedgemoor 11.4 (down from 17); Mendip 19.9 (down from 20.8). The downward trend comes as it emerges there are no Covid patients in the 12 hospitals managed by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton; Bridgwater Community Hospital; Burnham-on-Sea War Memorial Hospital; Crewkerne Community Hospital; Dene Barton Community Hospital, in Cotford St Luke; Frome Community Hospital; Minehead Community Hospital; Shepton Mallet Communit

The Somerset NHS Foundation Trust which oversees 12 hospitals across the county has recorded no Covid-19 patients.
This is the first since September 4 that no patients are being treated across the trust s sites, according to the latest data released on the government website.
