Another battle with a corporate giant looms. This time around, it is not the APM Terminals; it is the iron and steel giant ArcelorMittal and it is a battle for control of the Yekepa-Buchanan railroad currently concessioned out to the corporate giant.
Also concessioned out to ArcelorMittal is the Port of Buchanan over which the company enjoys exclusive rights granted to it under a Concession Agreement signed into law during the Sirleaf administration. The question now is how is this new agreement/arrangement to export Guinean ore through Yekepa to Buchanan going to be implemented without violating the terms and conditions of GoL’s Concession Agreement with the ArcelorMittal.
