Victorian croquet association challenged by COVID-19 17/12/2020|3min
Members of Victoria’s most far-flung croquet associations have gathered to celebrate the clubs 90th anniversary despite the significant challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Wimmera Croquet Association was established in 1930 and once boasted 14 clubs – however now has only four with about 100 members.
With no money coming in during the lockdowns – as well as the ever-present challenge of attracting younger Australians to the game – the association struggled throughout the pandemic.
Some members revealed being unable to play the game throughout the pandemic also took a toll on their mental health.
