DPWH fasttracks construction of flood control project on Cagayan River

(DENR / MANILA BULLETIN) Wilzon Valdez, DPWH Region 2 (Cagayan) information officer, said that the flood control project which is 50 percent complete is 240-linear meters long and has a 450-millimeter thick rubble concrete, steel sheet piles, and spur dikes. District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas reported to DPWH Region 2 director Loreta M. Malaluan that the project will mitigate the impact of flooding and scouring of vast agricultural lands as the water level in this area tends to rise during the wet season. Flood during the wet season poses a great threat to lives and properties on low lying areas in this province. The project which started last Nov. 23 has an allocation of P62 million under the Multi-Year Contractual Authority (MYCA) in the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for fiscal year 2020 and 2021.
