dispatcher warns responding officers they were heading to the scene of a targeted attack. texted a friend called a friend left a voicemail. he s going to kill everyone at the bank stealing food battle. louisville is the latest community coping with the horror of gun violence that includes dr jason smith, who is cared for gunshot victims for 15 years. he s now treating officer wilt, who was still in critical condition weary there s only so many times you can walk into a room. and tell someone they re not coming home tomorrow. and it just breaks your heart. and he says it is hard that doctor has been treating physical injuries for 15 years. but he, too, like so many other in this community have emotional injuries. we are also hearing from the family of the 25 year old shooter, they
about monday s mass shooting in louisville. lauren blanchard has stijn video and she is here now to break it down for us. good evening, trace. the body cam footage from the two responding officers shows us exactly the did you knower they were running into, an am bush, facing rounds of builts before they were even out of their car. in the video nicholas wilt who had just graduated from the police academy two weeks ago and his training officer cory gallo way, run up the steps. some shooter was firing, wilt was struck in the head and immediately is on the ground. galloway is able to get down the steps and take cover. from there as more officers arrive, galloway fires at the suspect, killing him. galloway yells quote, i think he s down, suspect down, get the officer. wilt remains in critical but stable condition after
