Roanoke county police are still piecing together what happened after confirming that a man was shot by an officer. At 7 15 last night, they received a call that a man wearing a bandanna and hoodie was waving a gun off of route 419. We spoke with a witness who made the call to police. He says he was driving when he saw the man. Thomas gill, witness i saw his gun in the right hand. So he was waving it at cars and he turned around and he was waving it at me so i turned around and took a left and i called 911.
