The Blue Jay boys hockey team clinched third place in the West Region standings with a 2-1 win over Mandan Tuesday night at Wilson arena.
Sophomore Nolan Nenow scored a shorthanded goal with 1:58 to go, and that was the difference. Nenow now has 19 goals this season.
Mandan was working a 5 on 3 power play when Nenow knocked the puck away at his own blue line and broke in alone on Mandan Senior Goalie Zane Clausen and deked him to the ice and flipped the puck over him for the game winner.
Nenow assisted on Senior Jace Thompsons 17th goal of the season three minutes into the game to give the Jays an early lead but the Braves got a shorthanded goal in the second to tie it.
