New Hanover County Manager Chris Coudriet called the area the county s last frontier for extensive residential development.
The area is considered one of the county s growth nodes, according to Cameron Moore, the executive director of the Wilmington Cape Fear Homebuilders Association. Other growth nodes exist in the Castle Hayne area and in the southern sections of the New Hanover County, Moore said.
The main draw of land along Sidbury Road is simply that it s largely undeveloped and available, said Rebekah Roth, New Hanover County s planning director. That could make homes built there more affordable. The availability of land has a major impact on affordability, she said.
