COVID-19 didn’t dent donations to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25’s poppy campaign as much as expected.
Chair Wilma Oliver expected contributions would fall in 2020, but Sault Ste. Marie residents still donated $83,000 to help veterans. About $95,000 was contributed in 2019 and $86,415 in 2018.

“We were ecstastic,” Oliver told The Sault Star. “We were overwhelmed with the generosity, actually, of the citizens of Sault and area.”
She anticipates the dollars raised will be enough to help veterans who approach Branch 25 for assistance in the coming year.
