The Role of Black Nurse Activists in Improving the Health of St. Louis Join us on February 17 for a panel discussion on the role of St. Louis-area Black nurse activists moderated by Wilma Calvert, UMSL associate professor of nursing, and AJ Medlock, SHSMO senior archivist. Presented in partnership with the Black Nurses Association of Greater St. Louis, panelists will discuss the closing of Homer G. Phillips Hospital in the 1970s, the 2014 Ferguson protests, and modern efforts to improve Black maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
