Genesius Theatre of Reading performs five shows of the love rock musical âHairâ outdoors under the Big Top at Willow Glen Park in Sinking Spring Aug. 5 to 9.
Genesius has had a love affair with this show since the theater company first presented âHairâ in the summer of 1976, at the now demolished Astor Theater on Penn Street, where the Santander Arena now stands. The show was directed by Genesius co-founder Michael OâFlaherty.
In the summer of 1998, Scott Russell directed the show outdoors in Schelegel Park, and the Tribe also cleaned up the brush around the painted rock peace sign on Mount Penn.
The summer events season heats up for real this weekend, with major draws including World War II Weekend in Reading and a reimagined Philadelphia Flower Show. Here s the rundown:

On Thursday, April 15, the Lisle Park District Board of Park Commissioners presented a resolution to name the new parks department vehicle & equipment storage facility Don s Garage in grateful recognition of Don Cook s 23 years of dedicated and accomplished service to the residents.
On June 16, 1998, Cook was appointed to the board and was re-elected to six 4-year terms since 1999. For twenty of his 23 years of service on the park district board, he served as park board president, leading continued advancements of the Lisle Park District through the acquisition, development, and ongoing improvements and
