After receiving the West Central Tribune’s request that the brand strategy and the information provided to the Willmar City Council be made available to the public, the city of Willmar on Friday, Feb. 9, released its new branding initiative, as well as a news release announcing the initiative.
After more than a year of planning and consistent approval by the Willmar City Council, two councilors attempted to delay the project after speaking with a representative from an internet provider.
While the approval of the rebranding initiative also approved the new city logo, only council members were given access to the new logo and rebranding materials.
In December of 2022, the number of additional child care slots needed in Kandiyohi County was 935. The Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar EDC launched the Child Care Economic Development Program, which is estimated to have created 263 additional child care slots.
A comprehensive plan is a long-term planning document for a city. Christopher Corbett, Willmar's new planning and development director, hopes to have a draft out by the summer of 2024.
