Hector Vila was proud of his nation and family: seven brothers, including him, had served in the U.S. military. In 2005, he successfully lobbied the city of Tampa to name a park after his brothers. On Memorial Day, Vila Brothers Park will be rededicated.
After bombs were dropped on Pearl Harbor, Tampa brothers Joe and Willie Vila told their parents they were going to fight for America. All 7 Vila brothers ended up fighting in the war and the Tampa park that bears their name is getting an upgrade worthy of their service.
