A Union University professor, who started his educational career in Jackson-Madison County Schools with teaching and administrative roles, will take a vacated school board seat until the August 2022 general election.
The Madison County Commission appointed educational leadership professor Ken Newman to the District 2 school board seat, vacated by board member O’Neal Henley’s resignation. Henley was elected in August 2020, meaning the person elected to the seat in 2022 will serve until 2024.
“I am very humbled and appreciative of their support and trust in me,” Newman said after the commission s appointment. “I’m going to do the best I can do.”
