Eagles Rookie Profile: 5 things to know about Milton Williams
Get to know one of Philly’s new defensive linemen.
Much to the
chagrin of Tom Donahoe, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Milton Wiliams with pick No. 73 in the 2021 NFL Draft. In order to learn more about the Louisiana Tech defensive tackle, I reached out to SB Nation’s college blog that includes Conference USA coverage:
1) Can you recap his college career?
His story is similar to so many players before him who played at Group of Five programs. Williams was a lightly recruited 225-pound defensive end when he signed with Louisiana Tech in 2017. After redshirting as a freshman and seeing playing time sparingly the next season, he emerged as one of the top defensive linemen in Conference USA in 2019. In two seasons as a starter, he racked up 104 tackles and 19 tackles for loss, playing both end and tackle. With May 1 come and gone, many high school seniors can breathe a sigh of relief. May 1 is not just the beginning of another month to them; itâs better known as one of the most critical deadlines in their lives to date. May 1 is National College Decision Dayâthe day when most seniors have to declare which school they will attend next year and to submit their initial deposits.
In Mashpee, there are 118 members of the Class of 2021. So far, 83 students have determined where they will attend, with 35 still making their final choices, as some schools have extended the typical May 1 deadline. In total, the students were accepted to 111 different colleges across the country and the world. However, with travel restricted for so much of this past year, visiting all of these colleges was not an option and making the choice of where to call home for the next four years has never been harder.
