Kenneth Beachum, 88, educator and community volunteer | Williamsburg Yorktown Daily

WILLIAMSBURG Kenneth Beachum, 88, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Donna S. Beachum; and son, W.K. “Kim” Beachum to cherish his memory. Mr. Beachum was an educator and community volunteer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, Toano, or the Salvation Army. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Bucktrout Funeral Home with the Rev. David Craig officiating.

Melanie Democko Holmes, 46, enjoyed working as a server in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG Melanie Democko Holmes, 46, passed from this earth Friday, Feb. 12, 2021. Melanie loved working as a server in Williamsburg. She enjoyed talking with her customers and would cry with them during bad times. She was a good friend to those who needed one and was always willing to help someone out if they needed a hand. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her father, John Democko of Canandaigua, New York; as well as her grandparents, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother, Marie Bailey of Smithfield; brother, Stephen Democko of Gloucester; son, Brett Democko; daughters, Hannah and Breanna Holmes and Lianna Democko; and two grandsons.

Ivory Roy Simmons, 101, Army veteran who served during World War II

Ivory Roy Simmons WILLIAMSBURG Ivory Roy Simmons, 101, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021. He lived an amazingly full life and will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, unwavering positivity and willingness to help others. Roy served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the XV Corps 3rd Field Artillery Observation Battalion in the European theatre of operations. He spent his civilian years in various sales roles. Roy loved to travel, going on to visit all 48 contiguous states with his wife Peggy and travel to the United Kingdom to visit his daughter and her family. He could be found spending time with family and friends, going to his Army reunions all over the United States; going out to eat; playing cards, he particularly enjoyed a good game of Liverpool Rummy; and bowling. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist church and enjoyed singing in the church choir and going to the monthly Golden Agers pot lucks. One of the things he loved most of all was ferrying
