Share Via Email | A+A A- By PTI LONDON: Three years after he handed back the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) honour, actor Michael Sheen has finally opened about it saying he decided to return the award so that he could express his views on monarchy in a lecture on Welsh-English relations. The Welsh actor, known for films like The Queen , The Twilight Saga series and miniseries Good Omens , was presented the OBE for services to drama by Queen Elizabeth II in 2009 and relinquished the honour in 2017.

Actor Michael Sheen, 51, admitted he gave back his OBE title three years after receiving it because he didn t want to feel like a hypocrite when he was awarded the honour back in 2009. During a recent interview with journalist Owen Jones, the Welsh star revealed he made the decision to give up the New Year s Honour for his services to drama, after learning more about the history of Wales and its relationship with Britain.
