But Waltz did so in a laudatory way.
On Tuesday, in an interview with The Daytona Beach News-Journal, The Record s sister paper, Waltz praised Trump for points he made in, first, vetoing the $741 billion National Defense Authorization Act, then holding up at the last minute the coronavirus-relief bill with a provision to provide $600 checks to middle- and low-income adults. Trump had called it a disgrace, before signing it and demanding the payments be increased to $2,000.
Waltz, a Republican from St. Augustine Beach, represents Florida s Congressional District 6, which covers Volusia, Flagler and parts of St. Johns and Lake counties.
He also defended his recent support of a lawsuit attempting to overturn the 2020 election won by Joe Biden and did not rule out supporting a challenge of the Electoral College certification in a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6.
