In 2001, John DeRamos and his wife, Ranetta, built their first house in Glendale. Since then, they have called the small, quaint town home and have tried to give back to their community. “What is special about Glen­dale is the people,” DeRamos said. “We had great neighbors and our children had great friends there also. It was a blessing.” DeRamos has been a member of the Glendale Lions Club for the past three years. During his first year, he served as secretary and park committee chairman. For the past two years, he served as president of the club. In addition to hosting community events, the Glendale Lions Club maintains Glendale Park, contributes money to maintain street lights in the community and has helped provide sidewalks along the town’s streets. Recently, the United States Postal Service signed a 20-year lease with the club to install a new post office on a half-acre parcel of land adjacent to Glendale Park.
