William G. Keith made his way to East Brookfield in the late 1800s, having been born in Maine, and soon opened up a supply shop. He traded in furniture, stoves, paints, oil, pumps, cutlery. A hardware supplier to mills and to the workers who toiled in the mills. In 1887, he commissioned a three-story building in Depot Square, in the foreground of our Then photo.
