The end of the month sees pictorial exhibition 'From Imbros Over the Sea' brought to Brisbane's Greek Club by the Greek Orthodox Community of St George Brisbane.
A publication released reveals the role of the Island of Imbros and its Hellenic population in the Gallipoli campaign of 1915-16. The book's author is historian Jim Claven and has been published by the Imvrian Society of Melbourne. The book complements the recent Imbros & Gallipoli Revealed Exhibition – curated by Claven – and launched in June 2023.
A large crowd braved a cold wintry Melbourne night last Friday to witness the formal launch of a new and unique exhibition, depicting the role of the northern Aegean island of Imbros in the Gallipoli campaign and Australia's Anzac story. The exhibition took place in the refurbished hall of the Archangels Greek Orthodox Church.
The story of the Hellenic connection to Australia just gets deeper. Next month will see the Imvrians' Society of Melbourne launch a new exhibition telling the amazing story of their Island was involved in the Gallipoli campaign and the Anzacs.
