Against the backdrop of a sweeping federal lawsuit alleging a vast conspiracy revolving around an Annapolis marketing business, a Maryland State Police commander is suing former Anne Arundel Sheriff Ron Bateman alleging he made a false report about the officer while doing private investigation work for an Annapolis-based company.
The National Rifle Association said Wednesday it is backing a legal challenge of a Maryland law that requires handgun buyers to undergo training and to apply for a state license, saying it creates unnecessary barriers for average citizens to exercise their rights.
