VERNON A teen has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting last week, police said Monday.
A 17-year-old Vernon boy turned himself in to police late Friday night after learning of a warrant for his arrest. Lt. William Meier said investigators secured the warrant on May 12 and had been trying to take the teen into custody.
The boy was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, criminal use of a firearm, use of a firearm in a Class A, B, or C felony, carrying a pistol without a permit and risk of injury to a minor.

Man hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds in Vernon

VERNON A man sustained “multiple gunshot wounds” and was transported to the hospital Tuesday, according to an official.
In a briefing Tuesday which was streamed by NBC Connecticut Vernon Police’s Lt. William Meier said that police responded to Terrace Drive after 4 p.m. to “a report of a person who had been shot.”
The man was brought to Rockville General Hospital before being transferred to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar helicopter, Meier said. He had “potentially life-threatening injuries,” according to Meier. Later Tuesday, Meier said that the man is “undergoing treatment” and is in critical condition.
