Where are they now? An update on St Johns County newsmakers from 2020

Before the end of the summer, a contractor for the city of St. Augustine slowly began moving the city s 100,000-pound Confederate memorial onto a barge bound for Trout Creek Fish Camp.  It was the culmination of weeks worth of careful effort to prepare the structure. The move sparked protests, including physical and verbal assaults and death threats against the moving team.  Like other stories in 2020, Confederate memorials made headlines but have been out of the news for awhile. Here are updates on a few 2020 newsmakers in St. Johns County. Confederate memorials Both the city s Confederate memorial and a memorial to Confederate Maj. Gen. William Loring are at Trout Creek Fish Camp. Randy Ringhaver, president of Ring Power Corporation, who founded the fish camp, offered to display the memorials at the location.
