Memorial plaque stolen from Leabrook
Police are investigating the theft of a bronze plaque from the memorial for a fallen police officer at Leabrook.
The plaque had been fixed to a rock in the Constable Hyde Memorial Garden, Tusmore Avenue, Leabrook.
The plaque and garden commemorates the murder of Constable William Hyde, 36, who was shot in the head while foiling a robbery at Marryatville on 2 January 1909. His killers were never apprehended.
The theft of the plaque was first noticed on Wednesday 31 March and may have occurred sometime in the previous week or so.
Anyone with information on the theft or whereabouts of the stolen plaque is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
