CSPAN2 In Depth Carol Anderson November 3, 2022

Impact of the Second Amendment. Host Carol Anderson, it is july 3, 2022. What is the july 4, 17 76 celebration mean to you . Prof. Anderson it means that we are so precariously pert as this democracy that we are heralding on july 4, 1776. We are in a perilous time, to me, as perilous as it was when the Continental Army looked like they were getting their butts kicked, as perilous as it looked when the south attacked fort sumter and launched the civil war. We are in perilous times where our democracy is hanging by a thread. Host why do you say that . Prof. Anderson weve got what i call a land, sea, and air attack happening on american democracy. The land attack is the assault on Voting Rights. The sea attack is the attack to wash away the teaching of real American History. And the air attack is the loosening of gun laws while having a narrative that the insurrection was legitimate political discourse. And well seeing that there was all of this violence and threats raining down on electi

Jake reese, day to feel alive good morning, im joy reid at msnbc World Headquarters in new york. Todays headline in president ial politics comes courtesy of a new poll released just this morning. It shows in the democratic and republican races, the candidates polling highest in terms of popularity are not the candidates who are on top. Senator ted cruz has rated negatively by 49 of registered voters while kasich is bobbing just above the waves at 31 up, 19 down, which also gives you an idea of how little known kasich still is. Vox. This is about giving hard working taxpayer bigger paychecked and more takehome pay and getting this economy to grow faster for bigger wages, more jobs and put america in the drivers seat in the Global Economy once again. Whether its the houses version or the senates version with a gop tax plan is about taking money from the poorest americans to give to the richest. A report on taxation shows that the senate bill would eventually raise taxes on most households earning 10,000 to 75,000 a year over the next decade and households earning more than 100,000 would see taxes reduced. And the lower and middle class americans occurs in part because the bill repeals the Obamacare Mandate requiring everyone to have Health Insurance eliminating that, 13 million fewer americans would have Health Insurance and republicans can use savings from

M. Joy. That was the emotional moment this past tuesday that shocked the political world when tallahasse mayor Andrew Gillum, a proud progressive who was outspent by his democratic rivals became floridas first ever africanamerican nominee for governor. His breakthrough victory made history, but he happens to be the Democratic Party third africanamerican nominee for governor in 2018. The other two being stacy abrams in georgia and ben jealous in maryland. And democrats arent just making history in primary races in the south. In texas, beto orourke is polling so close to ted cruz that ted cruz is counting on the man who accused his father of being in on the Jfk Assassination and who insulted his wifes looks, one donald j. Trump, to save him with a rally. Will november be a bl
