I was working alone one snowy morning, following a brook in the northeasterly corner of Pembroke when an object that didn’t fit the surrounding environment suddenly caught my attention. Perhaps it was the grayness of the object contrasted against the stark white background of freshly fallen snow, or maybe the sharp-cornered squareness of the object situated within a stand of round hemlock trees that made it look out of place. Andreya Summerson, 28, of 684 Second Ave., was unconscious but breathing when police found her laying on her kitchen floor after her 9-year-old child called 911, city police allege.
William Badger, the officer who filed the affidavit in the case, said there were two empty bags on a nearby county in plain view that contained synthetic cannabis. Additionally, officers found several small pieces of K2 and ashes around the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Summerson’s three children, aged three, five and nine, were allegedly crying. Summerson’s husband was conscious but allegedly slurred his speech and was unsteady on his feet, Badger said.
Badger wrote that neither Summerson nor her husband were fit for caring for the three young children living in the residence with them.
