Van Buren, N.Y. – Two Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office deputies and two state troopers Thursday morning helped rescue a man trapped in a burning home in Van Buren.
The officers were called to the house fire at 4:26 a.m. at 127 Cedarwood Boulevard, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Deputy Laura Collins saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home when she arrived, said Sgt. Jon Seeber, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office. She started to pound on the doors and windows and yelled to alert anyone inside that the house was on fire.
