ALBANY Solar farms proposed for southern Albany County and northern Schoharie County got the go-ahead from the state Board on Electric Generation Siting and the Environment Thursday.
Hecate Energy Albany 1 and Hecate Energy Albany 2 want to construct and operate a 40 megawatt facility between Route 9W and County Route 101 in Coeymans on a portion of about 436 acres of privately leased farmland, according to a statement from the siting board . It will include arrays of ground-mounted photovoltaic solar panels.

Body pulled from car that broke through ice on Lake Champlain

CROWN POINT A body was found inside a car Wednesday that fell through the ice on Lake Champlain, State Police said.
Troopers were called to Champlain Shores Way at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday to investigating reports a car sank about 150 feet from shore.
On Wednesday, the vehicle was pulled from the lake and a person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead.
So far, State Police have not released the victim s identity.
