MOMENTS WITH THE MINISTER: The canary in the coal mine
By Homer McQueen
Special to the Herald Democrat
Once upon a time, coal miners would take a caged canary into the mines, expecting the canary to keep them alive. As they worked, they kept a close watch on the canary. In the coal were pockets of odorless toxic gas. If the canary displayed physical distress, the miners knew it was time to get out. If the canary was ignored, it died. Then the miners died.
Divisiveness threatens to destroy the world as we know it. Rich against poor, white against nonwhite, Republicans against Democrats, our religion against their religion. Never mind the canary. He is not one of us.

IN EARLY FEBRUARY, I hopped in a car bound for Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania with my friend Becca Blackwell. Our mission was a mixture of business and pleasure: to visit Youtube-famous chiropractor, and hallowed muscle whisperer, Dr. Brent Binder. Becca either a performance artist with a staggering knowledge of touch specialists or an anarchist pervert, depending on your chosen paradigm is working on a new solo performance installation,
The Body Never Lies. exploring the possibilities for healing beyond western medicine, which often fails its Hippocratic mandate by ignoring the idiosyncratic self-knowledge of the patient.
The Prince Of Egypt: Inspirational - Audio CD - LIKE NEW

Since Prince of Egypt is the story of Moses, an inspirational inspired soundtrack would seem like more of a natural extension of the film than the Nashville segment might. Several tracks stand out: Power, by Fred Hammond and Radical for Christ, has a nice, traditional gospel flavor, as do three interspersed interludes known as Most High. God Will Take Care of Me and I Am, by Donnie McClurkin, both have a cinematic flare that could have fit in the film. Unfortunately, the compilation gets dragged down by some run-of-the-mill Christian pop: Didn t I, by the creatively named Christian; As Long As You re with Me, by the confusingly named Trin-i-tee 5:7; and Everything in Between, by Jars of Clay.
