The funds were raised via the charity’s Heart v Lungs 2.0 virtual challenge event. Participants could pick either Team Heart or Team Lungs and then walk, run, jog or roll anywhere to cover ground for their team. All the distance covered went towards their team’s total. The two teams raced across a virtual map from Harefield Hospital to Sydney, Australia. Each team was led by a celebrity team captain. Team Heart was led by actress and singer Claire Sweeney while Team Lungs was led by Paralympic table tennis players Aaron McKibbin and Will Bayley. The charity’s COVID-19 Relief Fund aims to buy equipment for and look after the wellbeing of staff at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals.
