After confirming the presence of an onion cartel in the country, three key members of the House of Representatives have proposed the establishment of an onion competitiveness enhancement fund for the Philippine onion industry to allow onion farmers to benefit from tariff revenues.
Former Agriculture Chief William Dar issued a statement on Thursday, expressing readiness to defend himself from any accusations related to the controversial onion price surge.
Rep. WIlfrido Mark Enverga (Quezon, 1st District) said in a press conference Thursday that while the committee has yet to reach a final decision, “there will be individuals whom we will recommend for the filing of charges.”
