TO mark World Turtle Day, Wildlife Conservation Society Cambodia (WCS Cambodia) – in collaboration with the Fisheries Administration (FiA) – celebrated the conservation of the critically endangered Cantor’s Giant Softshell Turtles (Pelochelys cantorii) by releasing 580 hatchlings into the wild along the Mekong River in Kratie province’s Sambour district.

The Ministry of Environment is extending the strategies it employs to combat wildlife crimes to include money laundering and terrorism financing. Ministry spokesman Neth Pheaktra said it is also forming an environmental code to tighten enforcement of natural resource crimes, especially the illegal wildlife trade.
