Federal prosecutors in Mexico have formally charged four soldiers in the killings of five men, including an American, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, last February.
Documents seen by EL PAÍS, a military report and the testimony of a survivor shed light on the shooting deaths of five unarmed young men in the Mexican border city in late February
Mexico s National Human Rights Commission released a report Tuesday that claimed an American from Texas and six other men were shot at 117 times by soldiers who acted without justification.
At least one of the five young men killed by the Mexican military had alleged links to Cartel del Noreste, which operates in the northern border city of Nuevo Laredo across from Texas.
