Brighstone Community Library Marks A Decade Since It Was Saved From Closure

Volunteers in Brighstone are celebrating ten years since they managed to rescue the community library from being closed with a one-off event this weekend.

In 2011 the Isle of Wight Council attempted to close nine libraries across the Island but volunteers stepped in to rescue the one in Brighstone, and several others across the Island.
Libraries in Shanklin, Niton, East Cowes, Bembridge and Brighstone are community libraries that were rescued by locals.

World Book Night: Feel-Good Short Stories Handed Out On Isle Of Wight

Free, feel-good short stories have been handed out across the Island - thanks to the Isle of Wight s Library Service.
The service gave out 160 copies of Stories to Make You Smile described as a seriously entertaining collection of feelgood stories guaranteed to put the smile back on your face” as part of the annual World Book Night celebration.
