Lauren Moore and Martyn Ridgley at the Hedgehog conservation event at Landguard Manor. HEDGEHOGS were he subject of an informative evening at Landguard Manor in Shanklin recently. Martyn Ridgley and Wight Biodiversity held the event, which included speakers Lauren Moore, a Phd researcher, RSPCA inspector Mark Buggie, and Honor Roberts from Carisbrooke Vets. Lauren spoke about her research into hedgehogs, which takes her all around the UK. She focused on the impact that roads have on hedgehogs, looking at solutions including tunnels and wildlife highways. She also covered GPS tracking in different areas, and population ratios of male and females. Her collected data goes towards the conservation of UK hedgehogs.
