Primary elections in New York are June 22, and there are a number of contested primaries to watch in the Rochester area.
The marquee matchup is for mayor of Rochester, where two-term incumbent Lovely Warren faces a significant challenge from City Council member Malik Evans.
Also on the primary ballot, or else the general election ballot for November: five seats on City Council and three on the city Board of Education; all Monroe County Legislature positions; and the Monroe County sheriff.
Rochester mayor
Evans is a first-term City Councilman and former city school board president.
In the heavily Democratic city, whoever wins the primary is almost certain to win election come November 2nd. The term is four years.
