Man shot in downtown Wichita

Posted By: Jacob Weston May 6, 2021 @ 4:00 pm Local News, News Police are looking for a man who shot and wounded a security guard after a disturbance at a convenience store north of downtown Wichita.  The shooting was reported just after 10 p.m. Wednesday at a Quik Trip store at Broadway and Murdock. Police captain Jason Stephens said a 39-year-old security guard was found in an alley across the street from the store.  Stephens said the guard had escorted a man out of the store after a disturbance, and the two got into a fight outside the store. The security guard was in critical condition at a hospital.  Stephens said investigators have not been able to talk to him about the incident, and they have talked to other witnesses and looked at surveillance video.

More shipments of COVID-19 vaccine arrive in Sedgwick County The Sedgwick County Health Department has received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine.   Health Department staff and EMS personnel are among the first people who will get the vaccine. Kansas Senator Jerry Moran visited the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita Wednesday morning, then he went to Wesley Medical Center to get an update on the vaccine distribution.    Moran posted a photo on Twitter showing him with a box of the Moderna vaccine.   He said he will continue to make sure the Veterans Administration has the necessary resources to administer the vaccine to the nation’s veterans and the medical staff who cares for them.
