MADISON, Wis. (AP) The Wisconsin Legislature's budget-writing committee rejected Gov. Tony Evers' plan Thursday to make permanent nearly 40 revenue agent positions that are devoted to collecting delinquent taxes.
Aaron Rodgers never made it past warmups in his first New York Jets practice in front of the media. The 39-year-old quarterback strained a calf while participating in early stretching and other exercises Tuesday. Rodgers watched quarterback drills and remained on the field during practice, but was without his helmet and threw no passes. Rodgers downplayed the injury and said it's not too serious. New York acquired Rodgers from Green Bay on April 26. Organized team activities began Monday and Rodgers participated. The session Tuesday marked the first with media in attendance.

Police departments are frazzled, attorneys generals have urged federal intervention and cities and consumers have resorted to lawsuits to hold car companies accountable. Still, some point the finger at social media platforms unable to remove content at the breakneck speed it appears.
RACINE, Wis. (AP) Wisconsin police officers fatally shot a person early Monday who they said fired shots at them after running away from a traffic stop. The confrontation happened about 12:30 a.m.
