In his final years, late actor Dustin Diamond spent a decent amount of time in Peoria. That included temporary residence in a local apartment complex.
Whether he or his family were aware of it, the Saved by the Bell star also forged a posthumous Peoria connection.
Diamond died Feb. 1 in Florida. He was best known for his portrayal of Samuel Screech Powers on Saved by the Bell.
The popular TV show was a hit in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Permutations of it have been produced ever since, including a current one.
Only a few weeks before his death, the 44-year-old Diamond was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. The disease has a family history.
