President David Anderson announces intent to retire in 2023 St. Olaf College President David R. Anderson ’74 has announced his intent to retire after the 2022–23 academic year. “It is not common for the conversation about a leadership transition at a college to begin openly this far in advance of the event itself, but as the Board of Regents charts the future of this college and plans for its next leader, it is important to have time to gather input and prepare the college for the transition,” Anderson says. “We will want to have conversations with faculty, staff, students, and alumni. We will need to think deeply about the vision for the future and identify the skills, the competencies, and the habits of mind and heart required of our next leader.”
