Rakesh Tikait Son of revolutionary farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait, Rakesh Tikait is a Delhi Police constable-turned-politician from Uttar Pradesh, who has become a leader in spearheading the farmers protests. He is the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). Born in the Sisauli town of Muzaffarnagar, UP, Rakesh Tikait is the younger brother of BKU National President Naresh Tikait. The brothers came into prominence when in November 2020, BKU joined the farmers protesting farm Bills passed by the central government. Later, Delhi Police filed an FIR against Naresh Tikait for the alleged role in violence on Republic Day, and Rakesh Tikait becoming the frontrunner in leading the farmers against the government s farm laws and demanding farmers rights.

Rakesh Tikait to contest elections Bharatiya Kisan Union farm laws protest
Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has said that he will not contest elections and continue to fight for the farmers. Responding to a question asked by India TV reporter Archana Singh, Tikat said, I have no plans to go to Parliament, instead I will work for enactment of laws for farmers interest from road.
Tikait said that farmers are being trained how to use social media platforms. They are getting training to use social media.posts will be the shared on social media sites daily from (Delhi) borders to tell the truth, he said.

Will remain at Delhi borders till Oct 2, no compromise on demands: Tikait
Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Saturday said the protesters demanding the rollback of the contentious agri-marketing laws on Delhi s outskirts will stay put till October 2 and there will not be any compromise on the demands. Farmers will return home only after the government repeals the contentious legislations and make a law ensuring a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP), the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader said. âWe will sit here till October 2,â he added.
âIf the government is understanding this, then talk to farmers. Make a law on the MSP, take back the three laws, only then will farmers return to their homes,â said Tikait, who is camping with his supporters on a stretch of the Delhi-Meerut highway since late November.
In the backdrop of support extended by international celebrities to the farmers protests, Tikait admitted that he didn t know Rihanna but his outfit had an alliance with farmers in 73 nations. We don t know Rihanna. We have alliance with farmers in 73 nations. For example in Brazil, there are no farmers and farming is mostly done by companies. We are agitating there too, Tikait said.
Tikait, who has dabbled in politics twice without much success, said the protest had nothing to do with next year s Uttar Pradesh elections. In 2007, Tikait contested as an independent candidate from Khatauli Assembly seat in Muzaffarnagar. In 2014, he took the plunge in the Lok Sabha elections and was fielded by Rashtriya Lok Dal from Amroha district.

BKU official complains against fake Facebook profile of Rakesh Tikait
A Bharatiya Kisan Union official here lodged a complaint on Thursday alleging that some miscreants had opened a fake Facebook page of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait and posted obnoxious photos on it.
A complaint along with screenshots of the page were sent to Kaushambi police station officials, BKU press cell in-charge Shamsher Rana told PTI adding that an acquaintance had informed him about the fake ID.
Superintendent of Police (City 2) Gyanendra Singh said action would be initiated as and when police would receive the complaint in writing.
Rana had received a friend request from the fake ID and got alerted as he was already connected with Tikait on the social networking site, the complaint stated.
