It’s no secret. The vaccine process is far, far from easy or efficient. This country hasn’t faced anything like this pandemic in more than 100 years. No one person is to blame and no one person can fix it. There are country-wide distribution problems and production has to get ramped up for us to succeed.
As the mayor of Leominster, one of my jobs is to do everything I can to bring the resources we need to our residents. In this case, it’s protecting people’s health and working toward returning the city back to normal, or at least a new normal. When the vaccine got approved late last year, we immediately called the Hull Group, who owns The Mall at Whitney Field, to ask if we could use a space to start vaccinating our police and fire departments. Here are some of the locations in the Leominster area where you can be tested for COVID-19:
• Drive-through testing at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital’s Leominster campus weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A doctor’s order should be filed with the hospital lab before a test is performed. All patients must call (978) 466-2627 to register before getting in line.
• The former Sears Auto Center at The Mall at Whitney Field, for Reliant Medical Group patients only.
• ReadyMED at 241 North Main St. (Route 12), by appointment, only after a medical exam that deems it appropriate to perform a COVID-19 test.
