Analysis: Which Guards and Centers Pass Seahawks Athletic/Measurable Thresholds?
While there have been a few unique exceptions to the rule, Seattle has generally looked for similar body types and athletes at the guard and center positions during the John Schneider era. Based on past precedent, which prospects could be targeted at the two position groups in the 2021 NFL Draft?

Apr 21, 2021 The 2021 NFL Draft is officially less than two weeks away and while the Seahawks currently have only three selections, they will still have a chance to address a number of needs on the roster.
Earlier in the offseason, Seattle opted to re-sign fifth-year center Ethan Pocic on a one-year contract worth up to $3 million. But even with his return for a fifth season in the Pacific Northwest, the pivot position remains one of the team s most glaring long-term concerns, as only journeyman Kyle Fuller sits behind him on the depth chart currently.
The Buccaneers couldn’t be anything but pleased with the way their offensive line protected Tom Brady in 2020. With first-round pick Tristan Wirfs sliding into the right tackle position to join a starting line that included Alex Cappa, Ryan Jensen, Ali Marpet and Donovan Smith, things could not have worked out any better. After some early-season struggles, the unit did its job and kept Brady upright, gave him a clean pocket and allowed him to engineer a Super Bowl run.
Heading into the 2021 season, Tampa Bay’s starting offensive line looks the same as it did in 2020. Add in key depth pieces like Aaron Stinnie and Josh Wells and you have a pretty solid group. But in this month’s NFL Draft, the Bucs would be wise to add an offensive lineman with an eye toward the future. Perhaps they select one, allow him to serve as depth this year and get him in the starting lineup next year.

The NFL Draft will take place from April 29 through May 1 in Cleveland, Ohio.
For many, the Super Bowl signifies the end of the football season. For me, it’s the beginning of the next season, as we get to start scouting rookies for the incoming class, bury ourselves into the depth charts to see what teams might need in free agency, and once that’s done, figure out what they might do in the draft.
Well, we’ve reached the point where most fans return, even if it’s for just a few days. The NFL Draft symbolizes a brand-new season for many fans, as they are able to look up scouting reports on the players their team has drafted, allowing them to be optimistic, even if it’s short lived.
1st Round Pick: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
Analysis: Whichever receiver or tight end falls to the Giants at Pick 11 is going to be one of the best values in the draft. All the top pass catchers are so close in skill that New York might draft the actual WR1 without having to use a super premium pick on him.
2nd Round Pick: Ronnie Perkins, EDGE, Oklahoma
Analysis: As the Sooner defense got better last year, so did Ronnie Perkins. He exploded onto the scene with a stellar 2020 campaign. Perkins earned a 73.1 grade after his first two seasons in Norman, posting a mere 11.9% pass-rush win rate. Then, he dominated his way into a 90.5 grade and a 24.7% win rate last season. You love to see that type of improvement, and he s clearly a very good, speedy pass rusher. But you are banking on a lot of development for him to see the field consistently on first and second down. He can get to the quarterback, and someone is going to fall in love with his athletic ability. Why not Dave Gettlema
