Young female soccer players say that a women's professional soccer league coming to Canada in 2025 will open up doors for female athletes looking to pursue the sport as a career.

If the government can be the benefactor and the saviour for many local clubs itching to play they should know it’s far beyond sport. At this point, it is about justifying the health of all young athletes. It’s about understanding that physical health is not only of the utmost importance. Mental health is not far away either.
In response to the COVID-19 lockdowns, a WhatsApp group with 17 youth soccer clubs was comprised.
Initially designed to discuss the sharing of resources, Executive Director of FC Durham Academy Elizabeth McCaw addressed another important topic of the group.
This is a strange time for athletes as ice rinks and soccer fields are almost seemingly empty. But for athletes who are trying to take the next steps in their athletic journeys are struggling as provincial and national teams are postponing their tryouts and recruiting due to the pandemic.
Alexis Tsaprilis plays for Whitecaps London and was invited to tryouts with Soccer Canada’s Regional EXCEL (REX) program, which focuses on helping female players make the national team. In October Soccer Canada announced that they were cancelling their tryouts for the REX program which was supposed to be held in Markham.
