On Monday, while fishing in the annual Ocean City tournament, the boat Knot Stressin took on water during the afternoon session about 60 miles offshore. Reports said engine failure and rough waves caused the eventual sinking.
No injuries were reported, but the 34-foot pleasure craft was determined to be unrecoverable, according to a release from the United States Coast Guard.
The crew aboard the boat Fishbone heard the distress call from the Coast Guard over the VHF channel and made the 1.5-mile trek to assist the members of Knot Stressin.
A video shows the Fishbone and its crew arriving on scene and assisting the members of Knot Stressin, who had abandoned the vessel for a lifeboat. The entire crew had proper life jackets and personal locator beacons, which allowed the Coast Guard to know their exact location.
