Its the second record in five days. On saturday the record was 15,442 new cases. For perspective, over the past seven days, weve averaged fewer than 14,000 new cases. Over the past two weeks, the average is roughly 11,000. Here is another way to understand whats happening in this graph you can see our summer spike right there in the middle and on the right, the current surge, which eclipses anything weve experienced so far. In many ways, the timing couldnt be worse. Today is expected to be one of the busiest days of thanksgiving travel despite numerous and repeated warnings from Health Agencies against traveling or gathering. Reporter as the bay area prepares for a thanksgiving unlike any other, Santa Clara County has another urgent warning for the public. Do not have gatherings and do not travel. Period. Reporter today, 512 new cases of covid19 were reported county wide. A new record for the highest daily case count since the start of the pandemic. Perhaps up to 60 of the time when people are infecting others or infectious themselves, they have absolutely no symptoms. Reporter the county also saw its highest daily number of covid19 hospitalizations at just under 200 patients. Troubling numbers at a time of year when most hospitals are already busy because of the cold and flu season.
